I’m not sure if this is a lament, a real conundrum, or I just need affirmation from my fellow gearheads.
I have a 2016 ATS coming off lease this month.
I want a Buick Regal TourX, which is finally hitting dealer lots. Because daddy needs a car, not an SUV. Because it babies better than the ATS. Because being a mid 30s married dude who’s come to accept its time to adult and make grown up decisions, on paper its the same as the ATS with more utility.
I have quotes from 2 buick dealers that have (or will have) the spec I want within the next week or so...
... but my killer Cadillac sales guy called me yesterday and can put me into another ATS, equally optioned to what I have now, for almost half what Buick has quoted... (and 20% less than I’m paying on it now...)
I have 3 weeks to figure this out. Buick get your head out of the sand and match some incentives! Otherwise it’ll be one of those so irritating adult decisions...

How much more to get daddy into a CTS?

Since I just got my wife a XT5 to replace an SRX, my budget got slashed in order to keep her happy.
“Happy wife, happy life” is no joke. (and the XT5, for an SUV/Crossover, is a really, really nice vehicle...)

Think of the children - Get an Alfa Romeo instead, in this color. It looks better, sounds better, drives better, and projects a better image to your kids, and their friends.

dealers aren’t going to budge on a brand new model like the Regal

Buy the TourX, absorb the depreciation, and pass the savings on to me?
Alternatively, did you tell Buick about your cadillac guy’s offer?

Just thinking since the ATS is cheaper than it was last time and the CTS has a bigger backseat. It wouldn’t hurt to see how cheap they are.

Option A) expand your search to other cars like the TourX that might have better incentives
Option B) go month to month on your current ATS lease until Buick incentives kick in, since most leases can be extended at least in a few increments past their original end date
Option C) Buy something used and cheaper that fits your budget so you can get off the lease merry go round

What Milky said - if the ATS is half of what a TourX is, then a CTS will likely still be cheaper than that Buick.
This is just dealers trying to maximize their own profit on what they think is a new ‘hot’ model. Time will tell if they’re right or not, but it sounds like you can’t wait that long.

Starred for the “Happy wife, happy life.”

Its crossed my mind. Probably need to get a direct line to a sales manager.

The dealer 1 mile from my office would be super convenient for all the service it will need...

I always tell people I’m helping buy cars (I’m like an underground Tom Mcparland) that it never hurts to ask, especially when you have nothing on the line to lose. If the buikc guy doesn’t budge, you’re out....nothing because it’s not like he’s going to get mad and raise the price, so the decision stays the same for you. So ask!

Make sure you negotiate a new bicycle into the deal - That way you can stay in shape riding back and forth to the dealership, and won’t have to miss any work.

Sadly no way for a dealership to eat a <$200/month difference in payment.. $200 x 36m = $7,200 on a car that nets less than $2k profit... take the profit away and the wagon is still $145/month higher... my answer is still the wagon of course, but I’m not the one making the payment!
